Remain In Me
John 15:4 Remain in Me, and I will remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in Me.
It has been a while since I have written anything. I would be less than honest if I did not tell you that I have let the busyness of everyday life, and yes, the busyness of church life, get in the way and to at least some degree, take me away from my first love, which is Jesus Christ, my Lord and Savior.
Yes, I have continued on and been very active in the ministries at my church, and yes, I have continued to pray, although not as often, and most of my prayers have been begging God to re-ignite the fire that seems to have faded in my soul. I know I am not the first person this has happened to and I will certainly not be the last. And, yes, you could say that everyone has these valleys in their walk with God, but when you are going through them, you feel like they will never end.

Loving His Law, Part 10Exodus 20:17 You shall not covet your neighbor’s house. You shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, or his manservant or maidservant, his ox or donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbor. Ouch. That hurts, doesn’t it? I think this is one that none of us can run from. This is one that I can say that I have probably broken almost every day since I was 3 years old. And it is something that I still struggle with today. I sometimes look the material things that others have and wish that I had more. But more often than not, I wish for the more subtle things, like for instance, I want to stay home with my children, I want a simpler and less hurried life, a life that I assume, probably incorrectly, that other people have. Most of us have at least one thing in our lives that we wish were different. Now I do not want to oversimplify this. It is not wrong to want things or to want better for ourselves and our children. But there is a very fine line between wanting something and coveting what your neighbor has. So how do we make that distinction? How do we guard ourselves against covetousness?
